This class comprises transfers of legal possession/usage of a property or object from one or more instances of E39 Actor to one or more different instances of E39 Actor, where the receiving party is completely compensated by the payment of a monetary amount over a defined period. In more detail, a rent agreement establishes a fixed monetary obligation at its initialization on the renting party, to the owning party. An instance of E96 Rent begins with the contract (or equivalent agreement) and ends with the fulfilment of all contractual obligations – namely the end of the rental period, the return of the rented object in its agreed condition, and the settlement of any outstanding payments. If the activity is abandoned before both parties have fulfilled these obligations (e.g., the renter terminates early without proper notice or the owner refuses to accept the return), the activity is not regarded as an instance of E96 Rent. This class is a very specific case of the much more complex social business practices of exchange of goods and services and the creation and satisfaction of related social obligations. Rent activities that define individual rental rates per object can be modelled by instantiating E96 Rent for each object individually and as part of an overall instance of E96 Rent transaction.
